AMD has revealed the Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI 300 series processors, which come with advanced AI features.

AMD introduced its latest processors at Computex 2024 to meet the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The announcement included four new Ryzen 9000 series chipsets designed for gamers and demanding workflows, along with two new Ryzen AI 300 series chipsets tailored for AI-powered PCs. These CPUs are based on AMD's cutting-edge Zen 5 architecture and incorporate integrated GPUs and Neural Processing Units (NPUs). AMD claimed that the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors can deliver a 16 percent performance boost compared to their predecessors.

Ryzen AI 300 Series Processors Unveiled

The Ryzen AI 300 series includes the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Ryzen AI 9 365 CPUs. Following the naming convention introduced in 2022, the HX designation signifies the top-tier desktop processor. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chipset features 12 high-performance Zen 5 cores and 24 threads, boasting a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz. It is equipped with Radeon 890M graphics and a 36MB cache.

On the other hand, the Ryzen AI 9 365 chipset offers 10-core high-performance Zen 5 cores and 12 threads, with a maximum clock speed of 5.0GHz. It comes with Radeon 880M graphics and a 34MB cache. In addition to leveraging Zen 5 architecture for the CPU, AMD utilized XDNA2 architecture to develop the NPU, enhancing AI capabilities for desktop users. Both processors feature NPUs capable of 50 Tera operations per second (TOPS).

Availability and Showcase at Microsoft's Surface Event

These chipsets are set to hit the market in July and will be featured in select Copilot+ PCs highlighted at Microsoft's Surface event. The initial models to showcase these chipsets will be the Asus Vivobook S 15 and HP OmniBook.

At the keynote session, AMD also revealed the Ryzen 9000 series chipsets, comprising the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X CPUs. The Ryzen 9 9950X stands out as the most potent processor in the lineup, boasting 16 high-performance Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, along with 80MB of L2+L3 cache. It operates at a base clock speed of 4.3GHz and can reach a maximum clock speed of 5.7GHz.

Ryzen 9000 Series Desktop Processors: Designed for Gamers

AMD asserts that the Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors are tailored for gamers, promising high frame rates, seamless gameplay, and enhanced performance across various AAA and esports titles. Additionally, the company touts faster 3D rendering, animation design, and product visualization capabilities. These processors are slated for launch in July. However, AMD has not disclosed pricing details for any of the chipsets.
