Exit poll timing and broadcast information for the 2024 assembly elections. Where can you watch them?

The Election Commission of India has banned the dissemination of exit poll results until 6 p.m. on June 1, the last day of voting.

The assembly elections in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh will conclude on Saturday, coinciding with the fourth phase of polling in Odisha and the ongoing seven-phase Lok Sabha elections.

Vote counting for the Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh assemblies is scheduled for June 2, while results for the remaining states and Lok Sabha constituencies will be declared on June 4.

Citizens are eager to know if Naveen Patnaik of the Biju Janata Dal will secure a record sixth term as the Chief Minister of Odisha and if Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress will clinch another term in Andhra Pradesh.

The Election Commission of India has enforced a ban on sharing exit polls until 6 p.m. on June 1, the final day of voting, and has prohibited media outlets—both print and electronic—from conducting or publishing election result predictions until 6 p.m. on Saturday. Consequently, exit polls will be available after 6:30 p.m. once the final phase of voting concludes.

An exit poll is a survey conducted after an election, similar to an opinion poll which is conducted before an election. In an exit poll, voters are asked about their voting choices as they leave the polling station, whereas in an opinion poll, people are asked about their intended voting choices.

Where to Watch Exit Polls?

News channels will start revealing their projections between 6:30-7 p.m. on Saturday. These projections will also be live-streamed on various social media platforms, including YouTube. Some of the prominent exit polls in India are typically conducted by organizations such as Chanakya, CVoter, and MyAxis India, and are aired on TV channels like ABP Network, Times Now, India Today, Aaj Tak, Zee News, TV9 Bharatvarsh, and others.

The voting for the 147-member Odisha assembly is conducted in four phases, with voters casting their votes on May 13, May 20, May 25, and the final phase on June 1. In the 2019 Odisha legislative assembly elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) secured a landslide majority by winning 113 out of 147 seats. Consequently, the party formed the government for a fifth consecutive term with Naveen Patnaik as the chief minister.

Voting for the 175-member Andhra Pradesh assembly took place in a single phase on May 13. In the 2019 legislative assembly elections, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) emerged victorious, securing 151 assembly seats with a vote share of approximately 49.5%. Subsequently, the party formed the government with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as the chief minister.

Voting for the 32-member Sikkim assembly and the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh assembly took place in a single phase on April 19.

In the 2019 Sikkim legislative assembly elections, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) emerged victorious, securing 17 seats and forming the government with Prem Singh Tamang as the chief minister, while the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) won 15 seats.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP retained power in the 2019 elections by winning 41 seats and forming the government with Pema Khandu as the chief minister.
