Vijay Deverakonda Joins Brother Anand's Press Meet
Vijay Deverakonda joined his brother Anand Deverakonda’s press meet online to address claims that Anand was copying his voice and speech style.
Since Anand Deverakonda's debut in 2019 with Dorasaani, people have often compared him to his brother, actor Vijay Deverakonda. Recently, during a press meet for his upcoming film Gam Gam Ganesha, Anand was asked if he was intentionally mimicking his brother's voice and diction. ‘We Used to Prank Girlfriends’
Anand explained that he and his brother naturally have similar voices and that he wasn't copying on purpose. To support this, Vijay joined the call and said, “We realized our voices were alike when our mother couldn’t tell who was calling her. We later used this to our advantage and played pranks on our girlfriends and friends. Anand would often pretend to be me. We even thought about having him dub some scenes in one of my films.” Anand added that he did dub for his brother once, making fans curious about which film they meant.
‘We Have Forgotten to Celebrate Cinema’
At the press meet, Anand also spoke about how comparisons are hurting good cinema in Tollywood. He said, “This new trend in the film industry is negative. Competition is positive; it helps us improve and make better films. But it becomes negative when every actor is compared to others based on looks and box office numbers. Even the audience is now focused on box office earnings. Because of this, we have forgotten to celebrate cinema.”
Upcoming Work
Directed by Uday Shetty, Gam Gam Ganesha stars Anand and Pragathi Srivastava. The film will be released in theatres on May 31. Anand is also working on a film called Duet. Vijay has three movies lined up with directors Gowtam Tinnanuri, Rahul Sankrityan, and Ravi Kiran Kola.
