Best Pairings for National Wine Day Celebrations!
Every year on May 25th, wine enthusiasts celebrate National Wine Day by pouring a glass of their favorite wine. Whether it is red or white, the sound of glasses "clinking" will be heard around the world today.
#NationalWineDay Wine is an alcoholic drink made from fermented grapes or other fruits. During fermentation, yeast consumes the sugars in the grapes, turning them into alcohol. Different grapes create different wines. Winemakers mix various wines to create more complex flavors. Wines made from fruit or honey are often named after the fruit used.
Red wine varieties produce deep ruby reds and subtle ambers and browns. Their beautiful colors hint at the change in season. With that, we can expect delicious menu changes too. Plus, there’s no better way to enjoy a great bottle of wine than with good company and food.
Winemakers create white wines from grapes with light yellow-green or light red skins. However, it's not the color of the grapes that gives the wine its color. It's the tannins in the grape skins that color wine red and add flavor. White wines are usually sweeter than red wines and are best served chilled. Most red wines are served at room temperature, but a sweet red should also be chilled for the best flavor.
