Sunita, Arvind Kejriwal's wife, declares, "dictatorship, emergency" following his CBI detention.
In relation to the excise policy scandal, the CBI detained Kejriwal on Wednesday and asked for five days of detention.
Sunita, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claimed on Wednesday that the government is attempting to keep her husband incarcerated, calling it a "dictatorship" and a "emergency."
Sunita Kejriwal stated in a Hindi post on X that although her husband was granted bail on June 20 in the money laundering case related to the excise policy, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) promptly obtained a stay of proceedings.
"The CBI filed an accusation against him the very following day. And he got arrested today. The goal of the entire system is to prevent the man from being released from prison. This is not legal advice. This is an emergency and a dictatorship," she declared.
In relation to the excise policy scandal, the CBI detained Kejriwal on Wednesday and asked for five days of detention. Later today, the Rouse Avenue court is anticipated to declare its verdict.
The AAP further asserted that Kejriwal was detained by the CBI in a "fake case" by the BJP, following reports that he could be granted bail by the Supreme Court in connection with a money laundering case. It said the BJP was acting in a panic and cruelly to keep Kejriwal in prison.
Due to a money laundering charge involving the excise policy, Kejriwal has been incarcerated since April 1. On June 2, he was sent back to prison after the Supreme Court granted him temporary release so he could campaign for the Lok Sabha elections for 21 days.
