The significance of the election outcomes resides in the overall optics of the process, even though they will not have much of an impact on national politics. A win will validate what the BJP and its allies have been saying since June 4: despite outperforming many predictions, it was the Opposition that lost the Lok Sabha elections. A majority of these by-election victories would provide the Opposition a significant boost heading into the Budget Session and prove that the results of the parliamentary poll were not an anomaly.
