Australian woman seeks help in Paris kebab shop after assault.
The 25-year-old woman said her attackers were "of African appearance" and that she had worn her clothes "backward."
Unsettling CCTV footage shows the moment an Australian woman, who was reportedly gang-raped by five men in Paris, fled to safety inside a kebab restaurant. Outside a kebab shop on Saturday, July 20, at around five in the morning, the 25-year-old woman was reported to be confused and unable to communicate in French. The store lies near the Moulin Rouge on Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.
According to the New York Post, the woman looked surprised and was spotted with her garment "backward." A portion of her garment was ripped off. She said she had been raped by five different people.
What is depicted in the video?
The woman, who is purportedly a tourist, is seen in the viral video rushing into the store and pleading with the employees to assist her. She is surrounded by patrons and staff who are trying to console her. The woman recognizes the man who walks into the kebab shop at this point as one of her attackers.
The woman receives a back pat from the alleged perpetrator, who then runs away when a customer confronts him. The victim informed the police that the attackers were "of African appearance" when they arrived at the site. To the Bichat Hospital, she was hurried.
The owner of the kebab shop told 7News that the purported victim sobbed uncontrollably and that her outfit was ruined. The woman was allegedly observed holding her underpants in her hand and had her phone taken, according to some sources.
It was intended for the woman to return to Australia. She will now, however, remain in Paris and assist the authorities in their investigation.
As confirmed by the Paris Prosecutor's Office, an inquiry is in progress. "The second judicial police district has been tasked with investigating the charge of gang rape that is believed to have occurred on the night of July 19 to 20," the prosecutor's office stated.
Police have now initiated a huge operation. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's spokeswoman stated that the Australian EmbassyThe Alliance Paris police union said, according to Le Parisien, that they will "do everything to quickly identify the individuals to justice."
