Congress requests information about rebel killings and inquires about mediation efforts; the government responds that there is no need for concern and that negotiations are always welcome.
According to the state police, at least 137 Maoists have died in Chhattisgarh this year in separate encounters, setting a record. During the four-day Monsoon Session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, which ended on Thursday, these killings turned into the most recent issue of contention between the Congress and the ruling BJP on Wednesday.
The fact that several ancient Bharmar guns, which are muzzle-loading rifles created in the nation, were discovered on the rebels that were slain has Congressman Charan Das Mahant, the leader of the opposition, concerned. He expressed his opinion that the security forces had slain innocent villagers, framed them, and then passed the blame off as Maoists. Mahant's fellow Congressmen Kawasi Lakhma, the MLA for Sukma, and Vikram Mandavi, the MLA for Bijapur, both voiced concerns over the gunfights.
