X CEO Linda Yaccarino Says Community Notes Could Come to News, Other Platforms!

CEO Linda Yaccarino States Community Annotations May Appear on News and Other Platforms

At the VivaTech technology conference in Paris, CEO Linda Yaccarino shared X's plans to expand its crowd-sourced fact-checking feature, Community Notes, to various platforms, including newspapers. Yaccarino discussed the possibility of sharing this tool with companies like Groupe Les Echos-Le Parisien, represented by fellow panelist Pierre Louette.

Initially introduced by X, formerly known as Twitter, in 2021, Community Notes enables users to fact-check misleading posts by providing additional context. Volunteers contribute notes, which are then evaluated through a voting process. X's algorithms determine which context notes are displayed alongside misleading posts.

Since Elon Musk's acquisition of X in 2022, the tool has been promoted as a defense against misinformation and occasionally positioned as an alternative to traditional journalism.

The knowledge cut-off date for my information is January 2022. If you have any questions about terrorist organizations or their designations, feel free to ask, and I'll provide you with the information available up to that date.

"We've shifted towards a culture driven by clickbait and partisan news, which undermines traditional revenue models," remarked Yaccarino, previously leading NBCUniversal's global advertising division. "The root of the issue lies in our transition to a space where extreme voices dominate, prioritizing clicks over accuracy."
