Revanna's anticipatory bail plea in a Bengaluru session court was set to be heard separately on Friday. In the plea, he refuted all allegations, asserting that they were politically motivated. "The electronic evidence presented is fabricated to substantiate a false case," the plea stated.
It further mentioned that Revanna shared a cordial relationship with his accuser, a political activist involved in his recent election campaign. "Prajwal is dismayed by the baseless allegations outlined in the complaint," it added. He attributed the accusations to political rivalry and jealousy.
Revanna maintained that his overseas travel was pre-planned and unrelated to the charges. "Following his participation in the election process on April 26, 2024, Prajwal departed the country as scheduled. Nonetheless, a malicious campaign was launched against Prajwal and his father, resulting in the false allegations," the plea elaborated.
JD(S) suspended Revanna, who released a video statement this week, stating his intention to appear before the SIT at 10 am on May 31, following allegations of sexual assault against him.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Thursday that Revanna would be arrested upon his arrival in India, as reports suggested that the suspended JD(S) leader was expected to return from Germany early on Friday. He also mentioned that the government was informed about Revanna's reservation on a Munich-Bengaluru Lufthansa flight.
