Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Refutes "False Allegations" Amid AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal's Claims of Death and Rape Threats.
Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee dismissed "false allegations" against him on Monday, following Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal's assertions of receiving rape and death threats. These claims surfaced after Rathee posted a video regarding the alleged assault on Maliwal by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar.
On social media platform X, Druv Rathee, without directly mentioning anyone, expressed that there have been efforts to tarnish his reputation. He stated that individuals are portraying themselves as victims while engaging in such actions.
"I'm accustomed to it now: false accusations against me, constant death threats, degrading insults, and organized efforts to smear my name," stated Dhruv Rathee.
"The irony is that those who are guilty are masquerading as victims. Everyone knows who is orchestrating all of this. Their aim is to silence me. But that won't happen. If you silence one Dhruv Rathee, a thousand new ones will emerge. Jai Hind," added the YouTuber.
Previously, Swati Maliwal had accused the Aam Aadmi Party and its supporters of conducting a "character assassination" campaign against her. She claimed that the situation intensified following Dhruv Rathee's posting of a "one-sided video" targeting her.
Sharing screenshots of abusive messages received on her social media platform, Swati Maliwal wrote on X, "Following a campaign of character assassination, victim shaming, and incitement against me orchestrated by leaders and volunteers of my party, AAP, I have been subjected to rape and death threats. This situation worsened when YouTuber @Dhruv_Rathee posted a one-sided video targeting me."
She alleged that the AAP was attempting to intimidate her into withdrawing her complaint against Bibhav Kumar. Maliwal also stated that she tried to contact Dhruv Rathee, but he ignored her calls and messages.
"It is disgraceful that individuals like him, who purport to be independent journalists, could behave like other AAP spokespersons and engage in victim-shaming to the point where I am now enduring severe abuses and threats," Maliwal remarked.
Bibhav Kumar was arrested by the Delhi Police on May 18 in connection with the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal at Arvind Kejriwal's official residence on May 13. In her complaint, the AAP MP alleged that Bibhav Kumar slapped and kicked her multiple times. She also claimed that Kumar issued death threats to her.
