Before the USA match, Rahul Dravid speaks with the struggling Ravindra Jadeja.

You don't often doubt Ravindra Jadeja's selection in the Indian XI. He has long been a given in every format when healthy. In all three areas of the game, he offers unique and frequently unrivaled contributions. But of late, his stocks have gone down in T20Is. On flat surfaces, his bowling is not very successful. For a left-hander, hitting at No. 5 or below requires a slam-bang style of stroke that is not natural to them.

For the past three IPL seasons, Jadeja hasn't had a great season. At best, his play with the Chennai Super Kings has been mediocre.

Although he scored 267 runs this year—his highest since 2011—the effect was lacking. Jadeja has been granted a higher number in CSK's batting order since MS Dhoni moved down the order, but the seasoned player hasn't been able to seize the chance. While he has occasionally had flashes of brilliance, he has long lacked the steady big-hitting necessary for this game.

In terms of bowling, Jadeja has performed exceptionally well on wickets that give spinners something to work with, but he has struggled on flat decks.
Despite his questionable form, the Indian selectors backed the seasoned all-rounder for the T20 World Cup. However, Jadeja's performance in the tournament's opening two games has been far from ideal. In India's eight-wicket victory over Ireland, he did not bat and bowled one over. He was dismissed for a golden duck against Pakistan after just two overs, during which he let up ten runs without managing to score any.

It's obvious that Axar Patel is the batsman and bowler that skipper Rohit Sharma likes most. In the low-scoring game, Axar was elevated to the No. 4 spot against Pakistan and was also the reliable spinner. This is not to say that Jadeja is incapable of making things better. Although there is rising support for either Kuldeep Yadav or Sanju Samson, he is more than capable of doing that. The Indian support team is also fully cognizant of this.
Speaking at the pre-match news conference for India's upcoming Group A encounter against the USA, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey expressed his happiness that Jadeja is receiving motivational talks from head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour.
